4WD Lights Flashing

Tonight I was driving the wifes 4Runner. I was showing her how the 4WD. I turned the switch to 4WD, the usual 3-5sec of the flashing lights. It went into 4WD. Then I turned it back to 2WD the normal lights starting flashing plus 4lo started blinking. I pulled it over and back and forthed it a few times...nothing. I put it in park and still the same. I ended up turning off the car and restarting it. It was fine after that. I can understand it being a little sluggish from 2wd to 4wd...but what's up with the 4lo blinking?

Come to a stop gently, put it in neutral. Turn from 2WD back to 4WD. Try it again. If it doesn't stop blinking, put it in drive, drive straight for a few feet, come to a gentle stop, put it in neutral, and try again.

What year do you have and how many miles?

Its a 2005 w/ 86k on it. I owned a few Tacomas, but never had them do this. I tried the neutral switching it back forth while moving slow and stopped.
