4wd problem

I've got an '86 and am not getting any pull from my front tires in 4wd. I can spin the front drive shaft with my hand when in 2wd and the two sides spin by both wheels(IFS). Then in 4wd I can't spin it. I have auto locking hubs and I think they are my problem. Anybody have any advice to narrow down what I am going to need to fix? :cheers:

You didn't swap the differential lately have you? I swapped my front diff earlier in the week and when I went to test it 4H and 4L would engage but my fronts wouldn't spin either. Turns out I had the vacuum lines routed wrong.

You are moving forward to get them to lock, right?
It could well be your auto hubs aren't locking, could be frozen-up lack of use.
You might want to pull at least one to check out. A good cleaning and grease job may be all that's needed.

And don't go looking for any vacuum hoses, it doesn't use them.
