New to this forum. I thank all of you in advance. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm not a big car buff and don't know much.
I have a 05 4 runner SR5 v6. I recently had a problem with my 4wd. I use my 4wd regularly for about half the year. 9 months ago my 4runner got stuck in 4LO after I tried placing it back in 2HI. I switched the selector switch to 2HI and the placed the vehicle back in drive. Upon driving, it did not kick out of 4LO and I could feel the 4wd still engaged on the smooth pavement.
I tried disengaging it again, no luck. I then turn off my car and started it again. placed it it drive turned back on to a patch of dirt and grass. Ran the car in drive and reverse. The 4HI disengaged.
A month later I used the 4HI. it was working properly for about a mile. then the dash was beeping and the 4LO light flashing. got back to smooth road and the 4HI didn't disengaged. I was able to get in 4LO and drive it home.
the front differential was disengaged and the 2hi engaged manually from underneath. the vehicle was driven this way for about 9 months before in had time available for the repair.
The actuator box was changed and the transfer case was opened. The 4Hi and low were working properly on the rack when the transfer case was manipulated manually.
The computer for the 4wd was changed. the fuses are all good. Full diagnostic on the main vehicle computer is fine.
The VSC light continues to flash on the dash. The differential lights remain flashing. Any advice as to what the problem is would be treaty appreciated.
