4WD Question

Whenever I put my 06 T4R Sport in 4WD Hi from 2WD Hi, both the 4WD and Differential Lock indicators flash near the speedometer. Is this normal, and what is going on while the indicators are flashing?

I just got 2005 T4R this past weekend. So I guess this is my first post! From what I can tell, when the diff and 4wd indicators are blinking the 4wd sensors are checking the rules behind putting the truck in 4wd and is attempting to engage. Usually when I'm moving, they will just blink forever. If I'm stopped and roll forward or backwards a little bit, it will engage faster. I have had it disengage while driving.

I believe to change it you need to be stopped and in neutral. Flashing means it's trying.

On my 06 Sport, if I change from 2Hi to 4Hi on the fly, the lights will flash for a minute, then the 4Hi light will stay lit.

You can change from 2Hi to 4hi and back on the fly, as long as you are below a certain speed, think 60 is the magic number.

To change to or from 4lo reguires you to be completely stopped, transmission in Neutral and the brake applied before changing to /from 4lo.

Also, going from 2hi to 2lo, you have to cycle through 4hi before continuing to 2hi.
