4runners have a tachometer which has a red line that you should not go beyond. We need the year and engine (4, 6, or 8 cylinder) to help with anything more specific. I assume you have an '08 from your sig but it's just a guess.

If you didn't hear any "clunck", then you're ok. Did you also press that button on your left (pic with 4 wheels and an x in the middle)?

sorry for not posting the details. 98 4runner v6 5spd. i came close to the redline. reason i was asking because i know in 4lo you are not supposed to go fast. other than that no clunks. thanks

That is perfectly fine. I'll periodically drive my jeep between trails with it in 4Lo and in 5th gear. Although, it's still only at about 25 mph, but engine rpm is up there (~3500).

As it was mentioned earlier, do not excede the redline on the tach and you'll be fine.

You didn't do your drivetrain any damage, unless you were punching it a full wheel lock or something silly like that. As for over revving, modern vehicles all have a rev limiter, our trucks, 2.7 or 3.4, will bounce off the limiter at 6k RPM.
