I am seriously thinking going this direction. I am looking for the 06-09 flares anyways. So between the 2 I think it's the best bet. I'm taking it down to SoCal next week to have custom bumpers built for it.

You can take a front Diff from tacomas, 4runners, or FJ cruisers for sure. You just have to be careful to get the right gear ratio. Also, if you plan on re-gearing to anything lower than 3:91, you need to be cautious to get the right front diff as there is a carrier break, and 2 different internally designed diffs for Tacoma's and FJs.



The rear is a standard 8'' Toyota rear end, and will accept most Toyota 3rd members. Axles are 30 spline, so be sure that the spline count matches if you swap the rear 3rd. If you have any gearing aspirations anyway.

I think i'd go with a SAS for the show plus go aspect. But it appears buying a stock 4wd rig and swapping makes a lot of sense both in time and expense.
