4wd?

Today while it was raining I decided to put my car in 4WD, by pushing the 4WD button on the side of the stick. This is my first true 4WD car, i have had AWD ones before but I was wondering if while turning should it fight you to turn hard?. It was almost like it was binding. Keep in mind that I am new to this and am just wondering if this is a normal thing while in 4WD.

that's normal, and it is binding, it's because the front and rear drivelines are locked together. in awd you have a slip or viscous coupling that allows the front and rear driveline to spin at different speeds. but since you have true 4wd, when the front and rear are locked and you try to turn, the inside front wheel has less distance to go than the outside rear wheel, causing the bind. if you do this on solid surfaces you run the risk of a breakage. you should limit your 4wd usage to slippery surfaces.

yeah, i wouldnt think to drive it on dry pavement i used it to drive to the local grocery and it was pouring, i wouldnt use on drive pavement only snow or when i would need it
