This may possibly rank as one of the dumb questions of all time - BUT I cannot find out if you are in 4WD drive when going in reverse. Since I have to back down the driveway from the garage would really like to know.

Not sure what your asking. If your in 4wd then its in 4wd foward, reverse and sideways. Or are you asking can the 4wd be engage from a parked position, after start up or stop going into reverse before drive? Also I see you have a limited, which is always in 4wd, so you need to do nothing unless you want 4wd lo range.

I have the V6 which is either rear drive or 4WD depending on what is selected. I assume that from what I've read in other posts that it would be best to be already in 4WD when pulling into the garage if snow is anticipated. Agree?

:iagree: Remember it's not like old school part-4wd. It doesn't hurt it to drive it on dry pavement in 4wd w/center diff unlocked. There's no reason to not put it in 4wd.

Are all 4WD Limited models always in 4WD? I thought that only applied to the V8 models. The OP states his is V6. I thought V6 4x4s came with multi-mode 4x4 (which includes a 2WD mode), and were not quasi-AWD like the V8 models.

Regardless, multi-mode or full time 4WD, if the vehicle is in any 4WD mode, it is for the duration, forward and reverse.

I've had my V8 Limited out in several snows this year and have never even had to lock the center diff...the 40/60 full time 4WD system works nice in stuff up to about 8-9" deep so far - that's the most we've gotten at once. I can't wait to get it off-road later on this spring, and out on the beach this summer.

Perhaps this is a rant, but I really don't like how we engage and disengage 4WD on the 4th gens. My 2nd and 3rd gens with the manual lever allowed you to do immediate engagement and it saved my azz a few times when time was crucial. This "turn-the-knob-and-wait-for-the-solenoid-to-kick-it-in" drives me nutz. I want it when I want it! LOL!
