4Wheelin with 2 new Tires and 2 Medium Tires?

I searched around a bit, but couldn't find what I was looking for.

I got a set of used 285/75/16 Duratracs and put 'em on my truck, and they look SICK! But I'm gettin some decent wobble in my wheel upwards of 50 mph. In the set there were 2 pretty low ones, and 2 pretty good ones, and they put the two bad ones up front. So I've been keeping a lookout for some used better condition ones on CL, but haven't seen anything. Thinking about having another shop try to balance them again, but not sure if it's a waste of money.

I was considering buying 2 new Duratracs to replace them. I'm not too concerned in 2WD, but when I switch over to 4WD this winter should I worry much about tearing things up?

Anyone have any experience with 4Runners in particular with this issue?

yea I have two new tires in the rear and two probably a little more than half worn tires on the front. I get a little vibration at higher speeds but mine do it closer to 60-70 mph. If you're tires aren't balanced you will get pretty bad vibration. I know for a fact my tires are balanced but all aggressive/mud tires will give you some wobble at higher speeds. It has something to do with centripetal force or something because of the beefy treads. I've never had good years so I can't tell you for sure but I think its nothing to really worry about. I kinda like that it does that then I know when I'm speeding...

also I noticed you have aftermarket wheels that a pro comps. If i remember correctly most pro comps are not lug centric. This will also give you some vibration

Tread wise, you shouldnt be experiencing major differences. You might not be balanced properly. Like the above post, you will have vibration with moderately aggressive tires. Wobbling, that sounds like a balance issue. But tread wouldnt make much of a difference unless you replaced 2 tires on the same side of the vehicle, and even then you wouldnt experience much but mild pulling to one side.

its ok to run worn tires with new tires, you will not hurt a thing, our 4runners are not that precise that it will damage things

So the guys at Big-O balanced them, but he said he had a hard time getting the front ones to balance. Wondering if I should have another place give it a try.

Thanks guys, I think I'll keep a lookout for a little while longer for a couple used better condition Duratracs, if I don't see some, order 2 new ones.
