4WL Beep?!?!?!

I tried a search and you can imagine the number of returns I got. Just real quick, is there a way the stealership can shut off the 4WL beep? I couldn't imagine people 'wheel with this freakin' thing going off like that. Thanks a lot

if it's beeping, you're not in 4Lo... I wheel in 4Lo occasionally and only had the beep when it did not engage. You need to be completely stopped to engage. Check out this thread:

So, if you were not in 4 low, were you in 4 hi? My truck is full time 4x4, and I assume yours is?

So if I were to go 4 wheeling in 4 hi, would I have that beeping constantly?

I haven't taken my truck 4 wheeling and I don't plan to, but I am looking forward to snow this winter. There has been one time when the dummy lights and beeping were going crazy. I am not looking forward to that at all.

Nope... If you are in 4Hi all the time (and you are since you have the v8) and you had beeping becuase of this you would be beeping all the time you drive. The beeping engages with 4Lo is not engaged properly (and you'll know when it does, because you are going very slowly with high RPMs and you cannot drive much beyond 30 MPH - I would stay below 10-15 though)...

Beeping also occurs if your VSC/TRAC engages due to wheel spin, but you should also see an indicator on the dash.

Basically if you hear beeping something isn't right.

I got it now. When the beeping occured, I was screwing around and got sideways on a dirt road and the dummy lights and beeping came one and the front tires grabbed and pulled the truck back straight.

OK, thanks, I'll give it a shot. I was pulling stumps when I was in 4Lo. I thought I had driven it enough to engage. It sure felt that way, but maybe it's ESO(equipment superior to operator).

First, there's the beeping that would occur if you tried to turn the 4low dial without being in neutral - should be stopped, too. After the guage light that flashes when you turn the dial goes solid, you're in 4low.

Now the only source of beeping would be VSC correcting directional control. This can be turned off by locking the center differential.

With center diff locked, the only noise now would be ATRAC braking a spinning wheel. It's not a beep. Kind of a boing sound.
