These look really beefy. Anyone running them?

Like the mounting setup, DOM outer tube, price, the amount they come off the body.

Don't like how it seems they have removed the kdss skid plate (that could prob be fixed with a bit of work).

DOM tubing is NOT stronger than an ERW tube of the same material. This is just a marketing trap for people who don't know better. Kinda like how the word BILLET makes all the flat bill bros go crazy.

The process of creating a DOM tube is taking an ERW tube, heating it, and then drawing it over a mandrel to get a more precisely round and accurate tube. It will be more dimensionally accurate and round than an ERW tube, but not stronger.

2010 - 2019 4Runner Bolt On Rock Slider

Based on the video, it looks like the KDSS skid can bolt on right over the slider into the original factory holes. The protrusion/hook that holds the skid in place before the bolts are installed should still fit through the large hole in the slider mounting bracket. Probably need to bend it a little.

You may need to grind a little of the skid away where it wraps around the slider. I had to do that to fit my RSG sliders. Five minutes with an angle grinder and some spray paint was easy enough.

Right, a VERY small distinction. 1018 or 1020 is a low carbon content steel and the effects of annealing/tempering/etc are small.

When talking about tubing for the purposes of roll cages, sliders, etc the only thing that would make a difference for me is if they made it from 4130 Chromoly or something that is ACTUALLY stronger.

thank you for this, was worried coz i have RSG's HREW sliders and didnt op in for the DOM ones. Was thinking HREW = soft as aluminum and it wasnt strong enough to use as a high lift jack point if ever i get stuck.

Wish I had a better idea how well normal sliders hold up under abuse.

If Mild steel is strong enough for an NHRA spec roll cage... it's strong enough for your Rock Sliders.

The NHRA tubing size requirement for cars running an 8.50sec or faster quarter miles is 1 5/8-inch x .118-inch mild steel or .083-inch chromoly. Yes, Chromoly is stronger, but totally overkill for this application.

Fair point. Prob better they have a smidge of give.

If Mild steel is strong enough for an NHRA spec roll cage... it's strong enough for your Rock Sliders.

Yeah I don't see myself rock crawling enough to justify it even if it is justifiable in a dedicated crawler. I'm cool with some scarring and a few hundo extra in the pockets.

I went with RSG angled, no kickout, no top plate, powdercoated for under $700 shipped.

There are videos on youtube of people using RSG sliders way harder than i will ever use them.

They look great, are fairly cheap, and are the most expensive step i have ever purchased for my wife. I doubt ill ever need sliders, but she will use them every time she climbs in.

I just got mine installed. Kdss, Full step with trd logo. I love them. I was sold by their vids on you tube. I can tell that Adam has an nice engineed approach with one of the most thorough and well thought out rail mounting system on the market.

I did have a problem that bummed me out on the kdss side. The holes on back frame mount plate didnt line up (about 2mm off). As a result I used a jigsaw to open the holes. I contacted adam after and he told me that he wished I contacted him first. He would have preferred that I spread the two plates apart so lines lined up first. Thst would have been extremely hard to do, plus a customer shouldn't have to do that. There was also one weld where I found porosity.

I feel that they have some QC issues to work through. These were expensive and should be done right.

I also cut my kdss cover so that it would work with slider. Not a big deal and more protection for plumbing.
