It's not a massive sale, but it's a sale

Just spoke to Adam and got all my questions answered about their 96-02 plate bumper with grill guard.

Price delivered is under $1,085 fully assembled. I will have to paint, mount it and cut/solder the turn signal wiring, but no frame mods necessary for 99 and up - it mounts in place of the stock bumper.

The other bumper I was looking at was Coastal Offroad Closed Top Plate bumper. A DIY bumper which adds up to $768 in the configuration I think I want, plus $149 shipping to total $917 coming from Canada.
This bumper requires cutting 2" off the front of the frame to install, and obviously has to be welded, then painted, then mount and cut/solder the turn signal wiring.

Coastal also makes a High Clearance DIY bumper, it's a bit cheaper, $738 + $149 shipping for a total of $887
This bumper is an open-top design and may require cutting of the grille to fit a winch. Like the closed top, it requires cutting the same 2" off the front of the frame to install, and has to be welded, then painted, then mount and cut/solder the turn signal wiring blah blah blah.

Looking for input / feedback from owners or guys that have researched, these or other options.

My criteria for a front bumper are:

• plate, not tube
• accommodates 1" body lift
• fits a standard 9,500# winch easily
• grill guard only, no headlight hoops
• is somewhat tight to the body, good approach angle
• works with any aftermarket or factory front skids
• has accommodations for driving/fog lights (internal)
• has turn signals (street legal)
• isn't ugly af

When you factor in the girls that come with it, the Coastal Offroad bumper is a better deal.

I bought it but haven't welded it together yet. Seeing how little time I have, my time to weld it up translates to big $$ so the 4x bumper looks favourable. I have way more projects than time. It looks good too.

No complaints about my 4xI bumper that I've had for the last few years. I really need to pull it off and have it repainted/PC'd and have the winch mounted, but the bumper itself has been solid.

That 4xI price is very good for a welded plate bumper shipped. The lead time is excellent, too. I have their skids and was totally happy with my dealings with them.

Being a poor bastard , I ordered a welded TNF plate bumper of very similar configuration (pic below is not mine, it popped up on my IG tonight as I follow TNF - shipping soon, after 18(!) weeks) during the Black Friday sale mainly because they use Affirm as a fairly painless payment option. Not to share too much, but I have 2 kids in college and no generational wealth to draw upon. Their base prices have increased somewhat since then (I also got free shipping and approx 20% off overall, so I opted for their powdercoat with the 'savings') Same config as the pic.

Cons: I will need to trim back my frame rails by 2" but fvck it - not going to return to stock and keeping my rig til I die. 18 F'ing weeks!! - can't imagine what Addicted Off Road's lead times are nowadays. Sheesh. Got a washer fluid relocation bracket/tank coming from Scarab via Opt Off Road as well. Gonna rig turn signals till I figure something out.

Edit - I forgot the price: I paid 1304 shipped (extra 300 was PC cost). I just went through their cart and current price would be 1,729 for welded by them, high hoop and powder coat shipped - yikes. The difference is mainly BF discount/shipping + slight base price increases.

I purchased my 4xinnovation basic bumpers on Black Friday, 11-2019. I live about 2-1/2 hours from Platteville, WI, which is where the production facility is located. I was able to save the shipping costs, was able to meet Adam and Ben, and tour their facility. Well worth the drive.

The bumpers sat in my garage until spring while I debated what finish I was going to use. SE Wisconsin is in the heart of the rust belt, which was the reason for replacing the bumpers in the first place.

After much research I ended up contacting a hot-dip galvanizing shop nearby in Milwaukee. They have a wide array of contracts, notably boat trailers for inland boating. I made a visit, got some details and requirements, and was quoted a price. $125 plus tax for both bumpers. Apparently, they have similar requests about once or twice a week for this service by local guys. The only request they had for me was to drill a few 3/8" venting holes in strategic spots so the bumpers would be uniformly coated in the dip tank without any puddles in the bumper when removed.

The bumpers turned out great. I installed them about two years ago, so they have seen two rust belt winters and show no signs of any rust whatsoever. During installation I sprayed Fluid Film in neighboring areas of the body to fend off rust, as well.

My grand total for both bumpers with galvanizing was about $1400, not including gas, beer and burgers for the product pickup.

I'm in the same boat as you, why bother for basically the same price? Unless of course you just love welding and need to do more of it

I actually do love welding, but I love time with my family and girlfriend as well and would rather save 12 to 18 hours

4xinnovations has been great for me.

I have been using the 4xInn. front bumper for a couple years and really like it. I had to take it off and repaint it once after only one Michigan winter because my prep job wasn't what it should have been. I color matched it to my 2000 limited in Mil. Silver

I installed them about two years ago, and my memory isn't what it used to be. Go figure.

4x Innovations does have install instructions for the front bumper install available for view on their site. It was a balancing act, with a floor jack and lumber cribbing, as I did the install solo.

The rear bumper was a less difficult install, and they do not have instructions on their site. It also required the balancing act. They do provide bracket strips for the welded captive nuts that go inside of the frame rails, which made the install quite easy. Fortunately I still have a couple pics on my phone to show. The strips are bolted loosely to either side of the bumper in this pic. If you choose galvanizing for a finish, make sure to drill and chase the threads for all of the fastener locations.

One more point worth noting about the 4x Innovations rear bumper is that it replaces the factory hitch. The integral hitch is class 3, rated at 500lb tongue load and 5000lb for towing. It is beefy. The receiver is higher than the factory hitch, and will require a ball mount with greater drop to level your trailer.

If you order the bumper with the tire carrier then everything is fully welded and bolt together install. However, if you're adding a tire carrier at a later date we do not recommend having us install the hinge and latch stud before hand. This is because the tire carrier and bumper/hinge are matched sets due to the need to compensate for small variations in weld warp.

It is. I asked and it looks like I can order just the swing out and then have it welded to my existing bumper at a later date if I decide I need it.
