Here in Atlanta the ratio of 4X2 to 4X4 is about 80% 4X2 and 20% 4X4 for the 4Runner. For the Highlander the percentage of 4X2 is around 90%. I get this ratio from going onto the web site of dealers and seeing what their inventory is.
Heck in Michigan I think it would be hard to find a 4X2. They probably don't even sell them at all, OK maybe a few.
I still like the ruggeness of the truck and I use it's ability for what I do, still using 4 wheel drive is a bit down on my list as it is with 80% of people living in Atlanta.
