4x4 engaged.... Did I screw up?

With all the snow on Saturday, I had the truck in 4h. Then on Sunday with clear dry roads, I forgot to disengage it and did about 30 min of highway driving and then this morning I realized I was still in 4h.

Could this Have damaged anything in the 4 wheel drive system?

I am guessing you have a V6. Did you have the center diff locked (button to the left of steering wheel)?

Read the owners manual and it explains how to properly operate the 4wd system. This will avoid confusion later in the winter.
 
You are one lucky man your truck even runs!! Please read the manual to avoid potential serious damage in the future!
 
4H is just fine anywhere as long as the center differential is not locked. If you JUST see the green 4WD icon, and NOT the one that's orange with an X on the drivetrain than you're fine. I periodically turn on my 4WD unlocked on dry roads to help with handling, and I always turn it on when the roads get wet, just so that I've got a sure footing if I need to step on it.
 
worst case scenario, you lubed up your front diff and x case really well. the older runners recommended occasional driving in 4hi to keep everything lubed. you didn't mess up anything.
 
Yep, you should be fine. In fact, if I'm not mistaken, the owners manual RECOMMENDS that you run it in 4 Hi for at least 10 or 15 miles per month, to keep everything lubricated and working well. This can be done in wet, dry, snow... whatever.

Am I the one who knew he was being sarcastic? Like others said, you're fine. 4H is just AWD. If you were in 4L that could have been a problem
 
why do the dealers always tell you not to drive it on dry pavement in 4wd? I have the v8 awd, and occasionally i will put it on 4lo when i get in my neighborhood to lube the 4lo gears, maybe .5 mi. I dont seem to understand why driving it in non slippery conditions would tear something up, Can some one elaborate on this?

Only when the center differential is locked do you need to concern yourself with what terrain you're on.

Furthermore, you're not lubing anything when in 4lo - you're giving the actuator a workout so that it doesn't stick which is a common occurrence on 4R's. Shifting from 4lo-4hi multiple times is more productive than driving around in one or the other.
