4x4 hard to find?

I've been looking for the past few weeks for a 4runner, preferably an '05-07. I'm trying to get out of my current ride-an '09 Dodge Hemi 4x4. 70 miles round trip a day to work isn't helping the pocket book.

I've found a few 4x4's in my area or within a couple hundred miles, but most have 120-160k miles on them. Is it just me, or are the 4x4's more common up north (I'm in east Texas)? I realize it's not going to be a quantum leap in gas mileage but it has to be better than the 14 or so I'm getting now. I talked to a salesman at a local Toyota stealership and he told me the 4x4's just don't sell well down here.

I just moved from Fort Worth to columbus Ohio. I find 4x4s everywhere here, way more than in TX. In fact there is an 05 right by my shop that is for sale for like $8000 V8 4x4. Up here in the north east 4x4 is the rule and 2wd seems to be the exception

Yeah I've never seen a 2wd 4runner in real life before

Took me 3 months to find a nice 4x4 4runner. I didn't want one from too far north to avoid corrosion. I ended up with a really nice 07 4x4 sport V6 with all the trimmings (hood scoop, spoiler, heated leather seats, sun roof). Lucky find and very pleased.
