4x4 Hunting/Shooting

Hope everyone is doing well.

After not having a 4runner for a long time, I'm back in the saddle again and looking to get out of the Bay Area and out to BLM land as often as I can. Really I'm just looking for the joy of being in the great outdoors, and if I can fold some hunting in that's pretty sweet too. I am fairly new to hunting and trying to learn as much as I can. Just wanted to see if anyone had any advice on some good 4x4 trails that open up to good hunting areas.

I'm geared up for just about any kind of hunt and all advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Not sure if California is the same as Washington but your best bet is to look at the game management units around your area and see if they list how many animals were harvested last year. Pick a unit that looks good to you and start covering ground. Very few people are going to give up their good areas. I always find that in new unknown areas I find a locked gate and walk in. Most hunters are road hunters so the animals will tend to be pushed away from the roads in to the gated off areas. There is no substitute for a good set of hiking boots to help you find game.

Also I use onX Hunt app to let me know if the area I'm looking at is public or private. It's very accurate up here in Washington so look it up for your area. Only like $30 for a lot of info via GPS coordinates.

I appreciate the help and totally understand. I'm not looking for honey holes are favorite hunting grounds. Just wondering if there are some fun off-road trails/roads that also lead to good blm or public hunting grounds.
