so i went in to the dealer today to get the good ol oil change and an estimate on a new timing belt. well the sevice guy gave me list and i saw a 4 wheel drive service, i have never had one done for the year ive had my truck. So is that bad? i do use my 4 wheel drive and it seems to work great. also, should i notice anything with the 4 wheel starts to go bad? thanks!

I would let them change the 3 fluids (both axles and t-case) and grease any driveshaft fittings. I wouldn't let them sell you any flushes or extras on those items. If they have a synthetic upgrade that might be good.

You can look at this and read what Toyota recommends: http://smg.toyotapartsandservice.com/guides.php?v=1&y=2001&int_id=64 Even if you don't tow or use a carrier those items are a really good idea.

Your sig says it's an '01. I'd change the transmission fluid too if it hasn't been done in a while.

nice, thanks for that, i was looking for a post on this, i couldnt find one. and yeah i did a tranny flush a couple of months ago. but ya im thinking on getting that done when i get my belts replaced knock it all out at once. its only $60 for replacing the fluids. but thanks again! im hopin i dont mess it up by waiting a little longer
