5-speeder's: Redline MT-90 > Amsoil synthetic

When we got this 4runner, I did a bunch of preventative maintenance. The seller included a bunch of fluids he had intended to use, including a couple gallons of Amsoil 75w-90 synthetic gear lube so that's what I used in the transmission...

It didn't take long for both the wife & I to notice that cold shifting was difficult into 1st or 2nd. With a little www-research, I managed to find this article which aligned perfectly with our shifting situation (read the Summary paragraph):

Fast forward 3300 miles and nearly 7 months later; I finally got around to locating a Redline retailer, picked up 3 quarts of MT-90, and replaced the Amsoil. Shifting into 1st or 2nd has gone from "hard to engauge" to "butter".

I have used nothing but Amsoil for the 25+ years I have owned 4X4 vehicles and never had any such problem.
Was in my old Ford F250 Diesel 4X4 5 speed and shifted smooth as silk, same with my Jeep YJ Wrangler 5 speed, shifted as smooth as could be, in fact in the Jeep not only did it shift better than what ever was in it when I bought it, I also got about an extra 1 mpg using it.

Just got through last week replacing both front and rear dif, transfer case, (Amsoil severe gear 75/90) and transmission with (Amsoil ATF) along with Amsoil engine oil.

Now I have an automatic transmission in the 4 Runner, wanted the 5speed but apparently those are like hens teeth to find, but the automatic shifts just as smooth as it possibly can.

Of course not a thing wrong with Redline either, if I wasn't able to get Amsoil I would go with Redline but I don't see one as being any better than the other particularly both are very good WAY better than any standard petroleum oil/lube.

I'll never run anything other than MT-90 in my manual transmissions!

Had to do the same on a Tacoma (went from M1 GL4/5 to MT90). The Toyota/Aisin MTs do much better with a GL4 fluid vs. GL4/5. BTW, if anyone needs to pick up some MT90, Summit carries it for a good price.
