5100 lifespan and suspension overhaul

I've searched the site and have gotten different answers to this. I have a a set as part of my Toytec lift. They've always been creaky but the ride is getting a bit spongy in the back. I have about 70k miles on them and most of my off roading is badly rutted WY fire roads and on my ranch.

If they are going south, I thought about overhauling the suspension, not sure if I'd just replace the shocks or go a bit more aggressive.

Anyone else have experience installing a new lift at 100k?

Truck has KDSS if that matters.

Interested as well, as I’m running Bilsteins with Wheelers all around. Isn’t the benefit of running an inexpensive, non-serviceable shock, is that you can just replace them when they go south? I think I will be running King or Radflo once I beat up my 5100s, but that’s a ways off.

those are likely spent at that mileage. Once you have them off, I'll bet you'll be surprised how easily they will compress by hand, or how much they won't want to rebound on their own.
I wouldn't think twice about replacing them, since the interval worked out well. Throw some new bushings on the front and rear swaybars at the same time- you'll love it.

Or has some upgrade bug bit you??

Not really, just looking at my options since I'll be partially taking stuff apart. The suspension has provided for a really good ride the time I've had it and does really well for the moderate off road applications I use it for.

From the description of your use, I would generally go with the KISS suspension system (Keep it simple stupid). OME or Dobinsons tried and true twin tube nitrochargers. Those Australian brands have pretty much been designed and built around the corrugated dirt roads of the Australian Outback. Nothing fancy just tried and true. The one thing I prefer with the Dobinsons is the amount of coil options for essentially any lift height and vehicle weight, along with offsetting height coils that are KDSS specific to get rid of the lean. Just my .02

I'm not exactly the same as your situation. I'm at 75,000 total miles with 65,000 on my Toytec lift that I just replaced a week ago. I have progressively added more weight over the life of the lift and have thought that was a contributing factor. One of lower mounting points on my 5100's stripped itself and came out about 8 months ago damaging my rim. (Long story) The rears have been creaking like crazy for a while. Looking closer at the front shocks they are completely trashed. The seals are shot and they also make a ton of noise, creaking and knocking. I'm not sure who made the shocks for Toytec in 2014 but it was a Boss kit. The kit really couldn't handle all the weight I had added to my rig over time. So some of the wear is due to me overloading it especially the rear.
As far as changing I can't explain what an improvement it's been. I went to Radflo front and rear with the 700# Radflo Eibach coils in the front and Dobinson's C59-677V in the rear. (No reservoirs no adjusters front or rear.)
