5100 Weight

Is it safe to run the 5100 in the front with 200 pounds in bumper/winch? I imagine I would need front coils with added spring rates. Just making sure the 5100 can handle a 700 lb + spring rate with the added weight of a bumper/winch

Yes, you should be fine. But like you said would probably need some stiffer coils if you don't want the front to sag with the added weight.

Not 100% sure on this but I thought there was an issue going that heavy of a rate on 5100s due to the adjusting clips holding. I know people were using the 5100s with the EMU heavy springs and were being advised against it. Again not totally sure here so do your homework and I'd ask Bilstein as well.

Toytec's Ultimate kit uses Bilstein 5100's with 650# springs. I have this on my 2017 with an SSO bumper and Smittybilt 10,000# winch. Unit has a very slight rake which I wanted. This setup handles the weight of the bumper and winch just fine.

That’s what I’m worried about. I heard people pairing 5100s and heavier springs, but that’s with hybrid bumpers that don’t way as much as a full sized played steel bumper.

I'd be a little leery with anything over 650# myself. I'm upgrading to 14" 600# myself on my Pro shocks but that's also a larger clip then the 5100s and Bilstein actually sells this combo, so I'm not concerned.

I'm running 5100's on the lowest setting with Dobinsons 314 coils. Rides just fine with my bumper and winch setup. It'll get the job done, but there are better setups.

Is your bumper steel or aluminum? Do you get any nose dive or excessive body roll?

Steel. I think Domello rates it around 180#'s? add the winch with synthetic rope. I'm sure I have 250#'s up front. it's less nose dive than the factory setup. It's important to run a good coil that can support the weight like a Dobinsons 314 or a 302 on the second clip. I first had Wheelers T1 coils up front on the second clip and the ride was bouncy up front. The spring rate just wasn't high enough to handle the weight and the valving of the 5100's couldn't hide it either.

I see. I think I should be okay if I use the Dobinson 352. It has a 730# spring rate and rated for 200-250# of additional weight
