5100's Installation + Daystar 1.5" Spacers on a 2014

About to start the installation of the 5100's all around and the 1.5" daystar spacers under the rear coils of my '14.

Quick questions as I was looking over the parts that arrive. There is no plate for the coil on the front 5100's. I assume I just re-use the OEM one from the original shocks?

I will post before and after pics soon for those that are interested.

My goal is to set the fronts to 2.5" and the rear coil spacers at 1.5" giving me a slight lift and a level truck. I have third row seating so I am hoping there won't be any reverse rake.

Anything I am missing before I take the truck apart?

Classic, mine came with replacement coil bottom plates. Not sure if the stock ones will work as well. Everything was included with mine except for the top bushings. But mine were still good so reused them.

You may end up with a 1/4" or so of rake. Mine still seems to have a very slight rake with no spacers in the back. I have heard you get about 1" of actual lift with the daystars and you are going 3/4 higher than me in the front. So that should leave some forward rake based on my math.

You may want to wait to find out about those coil plates before you start taking things apart though. The boxes for my fronts had a plastic baggy in them with the new plates and top nut.

Thanks man, yep they are there. They were under the paper in the very bottom at the other end of the box from where I opened them (I didn't have the lights on in the garage yet so just daylight). I know some setups on other vehicles you just reuse. Glad they have new ones.

Top bushings should be fine (562 miles on the odo). Shouldn't have any struggle with getting things unbolted either.

I will post pics when completed. I may not have time to get it all done today as I have other arrangements but going to at least get started.

sorry, let me rephrase that. the stock plate stays attached to the coil bucket, you do not need to take it off, so yes, it is reused.

Post up some pics after the install. I ordered the exact same lift and would love to see a little preview.

Will do man.

Also, not sure where you got your shocks... but if the place you ordered from says they are on backorder, I was able to find the fronts at shockwarehouse thanks to the suggestion of another board member.

Cool, thanks. I went thru 4wheelparts 2 days ago and haven't received a backordered phone call or email yet. Fingers crossed.

Here you go guys... I apologize for the delay. Overall I am really happy that I went with the 2.5 Bil's in the front and the daystar's in the back. I will probably change over to SAW 1.5's at the point my rear springs wear out, but the thing drives amazing now. Way better than stock.

There is a very slight rake to the rear, but really not noticeable in person... moreso after staring at a picture.

I ended up having 4Wheel do the work in Coppell, TX (my time is worth more than it looked like it was going to take on labor costs and with the truck being brand new I decided I would let them take the risk on anything). They did an amazing job. Fortunately two of the guys there were Toyota guys and they were really helpful and digging the truck.

Every person I've seen do this lift ends up with rear springs within 6 months.

Maybe so, we'll see. Regardless it already drives better than it did before, which was the primary goal. The lift and stance was a secondary bonus.

Looks awesome Classic!! Are you saying you have a little reverse rake going? What's your hub to fender measurements? Glad to hear you're stoked on the ride.

Btw, I ended up ordering from shock warehouse after 4wp was out a few weeks on the billies.

Thank man!

I only noticed it in the pictures. Again, in person it doesn't look really like that and I think it is an optical illusion in the photos because I have heard the rear fender cut out is taller.

I was eyeing the picture pretty heavy. Even if it is slight (and I mean slight) it is better than underestimating height and having to much forward rake again.

Actual measurements are the true judge and I haven't had time to do so. I will try to get those asap.

I have already had quite a few compliments on it from the guys at 4Wheel to some others on the street. This is the stance these trucks should have from the factory. Being a Rover guy in the past I have done the OME route myself and installed it myself on three different ones (Disco's and Rangies) and these bilsteins have offered a better ride with the height than I got out of OME. I am a huge OME fan (a religion for Rover guys) and always ran Bilsteins on my vettes. I am now a confident believer in this Bilstein setup for these trucks (again, whether with the daystars in the rear OR springs). Definitely the best for the money (roughly $400 in parts total)... if you aren't a hardcore crawler.

For overland or (since I think that word is overused in the US) getting you out into remote places and home again, but at least a 70% DD, as well as for weekend wheeling... it's a great choice, gives the truck a better ride, and is affordable for most. Basically cost to value ratio is high.

Anyway, I am glad you found the shocks. I had never heard of shock warehouse before the referral but they were fast shipping and when I called in after placing the order online just to make sure they had them, the guys were really nice.

I am out and don't have the measurements, but wanted to post back there actually was NO reverse rake. It is level with this setup (and this is after around 150 miles I have put on it since install).

Cool, thanks for updating us Classic. I bet for those who carry loads frequently will go for the saw's. I'm going with the daystars too, just have to wait the billies to get back in stock now.

Hi classic, I'm debating doing this set up. Do you have any more pictures?

Do the SAWs actually give you 1.5" of lift in the rear? Or more? I know listing vs real life are two completely different things, lol. Anybody actually measure? I am looking to get a slight lift in the back after installing the Bilsteins up front. Would prefer springs vs pucks.

I got 1.75-2" of lift in the rear with the SAWs. That seems to be the consensus with others that have installed them as well. I think it's the perfect match to 3" of lift in the front (perfectly level frame rails, about 1" rake at the fenders). With 285/70/17's, I'm right at 39" in the rear and 38" in the front (ground to fender).

Hello,
how is the ride quality with the new setup? Some have said that compressing the front springs at the 2.5" setting on the bilsteins make it a lot stiffer? Also wondering how its holding up or if there is any sag?

Thanks
