That's insane... I just can't imagine. Tranny definitely can't handle that kind of power..

I'm curious what 100% E85, 1000cc Supra injectors, and header/full exhaust might dyno at... too much!!

I would think an engine swap would be a more reliable option than this. The most reliable option for more power is the tried and true TRD supercharger since it was a part that Toyota was confident enough to put a warranty on, and is far better known. With that said, it won't get you the same power as this.

This is $5500 with a few thousand more added once you get a transmission that can handle this. Reliability is still no guarantee, and it looks pretty complex. If I'm going that far into uncharted territory with boost, I'm buying a 2JZ which is cheaper and proven. It's also been done on a Tacoma while maintaining a very factory appearance.

There are 3RZ race engines getting over 900HP with plenty of quality aftermarket support. They are light & you'll still have plenty of room in the engine bay. I would do that instead. LCE sells built 3RZ long blocks.

ya, don't do it. I've seen guys in my city with 2j's, 4.7l's and 5.7l's in the 3rd gens. and I think I wouldn't go higher than around the 400 that the 5.7l puts out. The 4runner was built for anything but speed. Met a guy in Michigan with a 5.7 supercharged barely pushing 500 an when I drove with him it was reallllllly sketchy and since then he upgrade the tranny. This is a older vehicle with probably some miles on it and the way it was built, I wouldn't risk turning your 4runner into a fireball on the freeway.

550 hp in a 3rd gen is nonsense. As already mentioned above, the amount of money one would have to spend on building the drivetrain to handle that would be absurd. And even with a suitable drivetrain, you still have the narrow trac and high center of gravity of the 4Runner. Handling would be out of control. The 3.4 supercharger is plenty for a 3rd gen. If one wants 550 hp, just buy a supra

I can't imagine spending that kind of money on power for a 4Runner or Tacoma. They're just not designed to handle it. Even once you stop things from breaking, it's still going to be a complete handful every time you put your foot down.

It looks like he did a pretty good job on it, for a one-off home built kit, but there's no way in hell I'd be spending $5500 on it. You could do a custom turbo build for a lot less if you really have the urge for more power than a TRD kit can give you.

After viewing the ebay listing, I was highly suspicious. Who in the hell wants to dump their 550hp supercharger because they need a 1200hp supercharger instead?!?

So I put on my detective hat and did some digging; I found his craigslist ad that had additional pics.

The ad clearly says, "up to" 550HP. Bolting that thing up won't give you that kind of power, you'd have to have the motor built for that.

I am with most here that the driveline probably couldn't handle that. And who in the hell would drop that kind of money? But, if that does exist in a 4Runner, I'd love to take it offroad just once!
