5th Gen 4Runner Coils

Hey guys. Can anyone confirm that 5th Gen 4Runner coils lift the front and rear about 1"? Scored a free set of coils. Front and back. I would like to run them without using a small spacer if possible. Pics would be helpful. Thanks

given that the same aftermarket spring put in a 5th gen and a 4th gen yields 1" less lift in a 4th gen, I would assume that 5th gen springs would actually lower your 4th gen by 1". This is all purely speculation. Try it!

+1 try it! Rear coils take 30 mins to change. And sure you get really good measurements and driving feel for your coils. Then switch them and get more really good measurements. Make sure to measure the free height of both sets of coils before you install them! Do it for science! (And you know, the rest of us curious folks).

I have 5th gen coils in the rear. I got .5" of lift from the coils. I also put in some 10mm trim packers (one on each side), so I got almost 1" of lift in the rear. They run a little stiffer too, which I like.

This is good to know. I found this pic here. So in theory, it should lift the 4th Gen? I couldn't find any solid info. Just a lot of people using spacers not the coils on its own.

It's also important to note that a most likely any newer spring than old stock saggy 4th gen springs will be a lift. Hence the reason for so many "5100's set at 2.5" lift but I got 4" with new moog coils!" threads.

Subscribed as I'm doing this in the back. most threads about it say its about the same as the FJ coil switch.

Im curious to see how much lift you get from them as I am also gtting ready to switch my springs out with 5th gen's and pair them with 5100s.

is likely the difference in wear between the newer 5th gen coils and the ones they replaced. basically there the same.

Possibly. I am looking at a 5th gen swap on my gx470, which is basically a v8 4runner. if it happens it will be at least a few weeks away.

I bought some 2016 5th gen Trail coils from a fellow member to put on my 4th gen V8. From the research i have done, the 5th gen coils (as long as they have 6 coils like the FJ coils) are comparable to the FJ Cruiser coils.

The only backup I have for this though is a fellow member who stated he purchased 5100s with the front set at .85 and a full set of 5th Gen 4runner coils, he claims he got around 1" in the front and 1/2" in the rear.

I have the same setup and plan to have them installed on my vehicle in the next couple of weeks barring my mechanic hurting his back again.
