5th gen 4runner Fuel pump replacement

I've got a 2010 Trail that needs a new fuel pump, the check valve is not operating. Does anyone know if there is access under the rear seat? Is there a drain plug on the tank. Looking for input from those that have tackled this problem.

There is an access panel, but it is not big enough to replace the pump... You will need to drop the entire tank... NO FUN. You have to use the pump to drain the tank.

Yes, the point of the access panel is to disconnect the harness. Download the repair manual.

I know of some that installed a check valve in the fuel line next to the tank to avoid all this. pump works good but rapid pressure drop on shutdown...can also be injectors ..

I would be willing to install an external check valve to avoid this, i'll search this. Is there a write up for this somewhere? Dealer checked it out and fuel pressure was gone in the fuel lines very quickly. Fuel pump works fine.
