Hey Guys,

Im selling Aluminum storage panels. As far as I know they're the only "Aluminum" ones on the market. Please feel free to correct me on that if I'm wrong.

As a matter of fact there are at least 2 companies that make panels very much similar to the one you posted pics of. I believe they are Rago Fab and Orangebox fab. I don't know if they have patents but it could get interesting if they do. I suggest you check them out.

correct me if i'm wrong, but i think rago fab & orange boxx are made of steel and these are aluminum.. :shrug:
 
I don't know what they are made of - but many patents are for design as well as materials. I guess it's too late now anyway.

I know Springtail Solutions made these for jeeps and tried aluminum, but even quality aluminum cannot handle the flexing from items hung on the rack over time. I know smittybuilt did this with a plastic of some sort (polly I assume) and i have no idea if that holds up or not.

I would guess the other folks went with stainless vs aluminum for the same reason as Springtail Solutions did.

How long have you run these with heavier items attached to them? I've never had these in any material but I do try to talk myself into them every time i see them..lol

There shouldn't be too much flexing happening. If you can get one to fail though, I will give you another one.

Typically I think the high cost is why aluminum isn't used. Personally I haven't seen anything is stainless either as they are close to the same price.

The panels have been in testing since March. I don't know what you consider heavy, but I wouldn't advise attaching a 9kg fire extinguisher and daily driving it, steel or aluminum. Not that I think the panels will fail, but I think it could be dangerous in an accident. I'll put together a video and hang a number of things from an aluminum vs a steel panel to compare. I'm sure people would be interested in seeing that. Thank you for the idea!
 
It looks like the panels are well built with radiused corners and where bends end. They also look thick enough so cracking wouldn't be a problem. I don't see any issues with edge distance where holes are concerned. Shock mounting with rubber should solve any issues that arise. If there were ever an issue with the long bend at the rear of the panel - a piano hinge could replace it.
 
Can you just purchase one panel? Looks like the only option is to purchase a pair. If you can just purchased one (Drivers side) please let me know the cost.

Just a small observation...correct me if I'm wrong

When you are looking into the cargo area and view the panels, the "TR4" appears to be readable on the passenger side, but is facing out on the driver's side panel? I would think that they'd be stamped to both be readable from the inside view.

Just something that would drive me nuts visually.

That said, I really like these and considering ordering, just need to know about the stamping.
 
Just giving feedback on the product and in no way mean this in a negative way. I've been looking at these for a while and just can't pull the trigger on it because I deem them to expensive for what their purpose is. And I see them on the website now for $380 and with the promo 15% off makes them $323, probably the most competitive pricing out there, but still to much for me. I mean all the stuff I plan on hanging on these probably aren't worth the cost of the panels. Also good point from the above comment. Looks like the main panel on both sides are identical and the logo is cut all the same way making a big batch of them, then welding on the back pieces, so great catch on that detail and I would agree to make it a more finished product with correctly angled logos. But defiantly a cool factor on them and I still want them, good luck with the product. Let me know if you need a tester to try them out for an extended amount of time.

You are correct they are different one was intended to be readable from outside the vehicle and the other from the inside. Honestly, you only really see them when installing. Once items are mounted they tend to disappear.

Can I still jump on this sale? I'm on the fence between Rago and your product but the stamping definitely caught my eye (I love OEM look).

Anyway we can order a set with the T4R facing the correct way from POV of the trunk?
