what pads are you guys going with?
This morning I found the NAPA Eclipse 13WH calipers (4th gen) on their site. They weren't showing up in the search results on my phone.
Decisions, decisions!!
If I could get NAPA Eclipse versions of the 5th gen calipers, I would just go that route so I could pick them up and exchange the cores locally. It doesn't seem like NAPA has any calipers for 5th gen, probably because there hasn't been a need. I guess that's a good thing!
I see that Rock Auto is a $75.00 core charge for these 5th gen calipers. How much did you all pay for shipping to send back your cores? I've never done core charge parts exchange through the mail, and I'm trying to get a rough idea how much it's actually going to cost me in the end.
From all the information I've seen, the SR5 rotors are smaller, even if you have the 17" wheels. So you will need rotors.I'm really interested in this as well. Only thing is that I'm running an 08 SR5 with 17" wheels so I'm not sure if I will have to upgrade rotors in addition to cutting the dust shield or not.
Either way, I can feel my rear caliper sticking so I think its time for a replacement. May as well try it out and see how it goes.

Just got my rear caliper cores refunded
4th gen rotors could work however you will be pushing the caliper pistons further out as 4th generation rotors are thinner compared to the 5th gen rotors.
As for the rear, I'm using 4th gen rotors with 5th gen calipers with no issues. There wasn't too much of a difference between 4th and 5th gen rotors. Mine had about a year worth of usage
Thanks for the info. I'm going to play it safe and switch my front rotors to 5th gen. My rears are staying 4th gen for now, since I just redid all of that back in November.i used my stock 4th gen "limited" rotors, no problem. I just got my core back. Cost 12 bucks for shipping using rockauto label,,, from ohio to arizona
I replaced my front rotors and pads last weekend. this is the third time for the pads and 2nd time for the front rotors. previously when I replaced the pads, I had to replace the caliper too due to frozen piston.
during the time that I was fixing it last weekend, I noticed that the inside bottom piston is so rusty, I thought it seized. I also noticed that the inner brake pads are seized to the caliper, not moving at all. I believe the reason why those calipers seize are because of the accumulated dirt that goes in caliper where brake pads meet. when it seizes during braking and doesn't come back, it causes the pads to overheat and thus transferring the heat to the piston and thus causing the piston to seize.
To avoid a seized caliper, you'll need a periodic maintenance of the mating surfaces of the caliper and pads and use a caliper grease to grease those areas for smooth sliding of the pads. regular cleaning, like every 2 years when you bleed the fluid would be good enough for proper movement.
