5th Gen Dirty Rear Camera - Possible Solution

I honestly expected something more sexy like running an airline back above the camera with a slow constant directed flow of air tied to the throttle control or something similar....However, simple usually wins the day. Sticking to my thumb wiper for now on all 4 of my cameras... Although the water droplets and frozen icicles off the side mirror mounted cameras are so pretty...

I walk behind mine every morning in the garage, not that hard to wipe it with the thumb.

and the end of the day home from work, I walk around the 4runner to see if anyone scratched it or whatever, thumb wipe also.

I also do the "walk around". I've done this with all my vehicles as I used to do with my work trucks. It was a requirement and called the "circle of safety". If more people did this it might prevent a few accidents. Now I do it out of safety wanting to make sure all four sides are clear, but I can also see that all four sides are as they were when I parked it ;)
A damp thumb wipe of the camera lens while I'm at it. :)

That would be great if there was a coating that would work! Up here in snow country the back up cam is inoperable from Nov. 1st till May 1st!

I drive an 18-wheeler. Previous to my 4runner I drove (and still drive) a 68 F100 with a camper.
For me, the backup camera is an amusing novelty.
(I also don't use the key fob to lock or unlock the doors. I use the actual key)
