5th Gen Front End Thud/Clunk?

***EDIT: culprit was the drivers side uniball in brand new UCA; Icon replaced under warranty***

Experiencing a mysterious series of thuds/clunks in what seems like the front drivers side at speeds lower then 20mph. I can feel it in the floorboards, and in the steering wheel when slightly jerking the wheel side to side, in reverse, and when coming to a stop/accelerating. All the above can even be felt even when i put it in park as i move the steering wheel side to side.Any ideas what could be the culprit? Ive already double checked and re-torqued all suspension components, uniball, etc. I had a mechanic friend check around the vehicle while i tried to replicate the problem and he couldn't see anything shifting around but could feel the thud/clunk transferring through the front suspension on both sides when he put his hands on various components esp the Icon UCA...

Ive searched past threads, only thing i could find similar to mine was a TBS for 3rd or 4th Gens for driveshafts I think it was.

Any help/ideas would be appreciated

I had a Toytec Boss setup on my wifes FJ and got the mystery clunk when hitting a sudden bump in the road. Nobody could figure it out.
So we switched to Icon for her and I took her boss kit and the noise is gone in hers. Now the noise is in my 4Runner and I still can't figure it out. I spoke to toytec and let them know what was happening and I tried everything they suggested (thought maybe it was a bad heim joint) and its still clunking. I thought maybe hers was due to the UCAs so I added TC uppers and that did not help. Toytec is not really offering any real help either. Looks like I may be switching to Icon in the future.

Now this is just me so take it with ! Replaced my front sway bar bushings & so far no clunk , speed bumps, gutters , anything !

those LCA bolts don't like to be tickled in to place.... I'm assuming you had an alignment immediately afterward

I have KDSS and had the same clunk you are explaining. I replaced the sway bar bushings and my clunks are all gone. Not sure if the bushings will work the same magic for non-KDSS truck but it is worth a try since it is the cheapest place to start. I would also make sure the LCA bolts are snug to 130 ft-lbs IIRC.

I have an appointment to rule out any drivetrain issues, but will def re-torque the UCA bolts and explore new bushings even though my rig only has 5k on odometer

Groove Toyota Denver greased my sway bar bushings, clunk or creak is gone.

sub'd as I am experiencing a similar issue. I am running bilstein 6112's up front. I have also noticed a squeak/rattle/metal noise on rough roads coming from driver's front suspension area. No idea...

So Toyota dealer seems to think my rack and pinion went out due to the extreme angle of my tie rod ends. However my lift is moderate at just below 2.5" in front and 1.75 in rear. Any thoughts on this?

I was hoping the clunk was due to too much grease in the UCA bushings, which i'll rebuild this weekend and see...

I just increased the ride height of my 6112 to 2" and have the noise. Did you resolve it?

Front end clunks

ITS THE LOWER CONTROL ARM BOLTS!!! Tighten the hell out of em and it will probably disappear. Unless its your sway bar but mine was just as bad without the sway bar so that was obviously not it.

I just installed 6112s and 5160s with SPCs UCA. Got the Runner aligned twice now. The sound seems to go away when I've got a full tank of gas. As soon as I'm about 1/4 of the way down I start hearing it. I've greased everything I can think of but get this slight either creak or maybe a thunking while doing slow turns in either direction. I'll have to try retorqing the LCA bolts and take a look at the sway bar bushing. Any other possible ideas?
