5th gen key swap?

Somewhere here in the forums I saw a thread once about someone who had done a mod that allowed them to use the 5th gen keys with built-in fob on their 4th gen, which of course usually has them separate. For the life of me, I can't find that thread or the link I thought I had saved to it.

If there's no loss in functionality (window controls, door locks), this is my next mod for sure.

Anyone recall where that thread was? I'm pretty sure it was here on T4R and not another site...but searching isn't turning it up.

I believe people started having issues with the keys they were purchasing off ebay. Make sure you read through the whole thread because the start of it makes it seem legit.

Thanks! Having spent the past hour reading the entire thread start to finish though, I think I'll drop the plan for changing out the key fobs. No way am I spending a dime on the crappy key fobs from China on eBay that everyone's having so many problems with. I wouldn't mind spending more to get an OEM key from Toyota, but at $291 it's not worth the cost even if it does have the same FCC code.

The key/fob I bough still works. I read through that other forum as I was doing my research.
