5th gen LCA bushings. Anyone had issues?

I replaced my driver's side LCA at one point because my LBJ boot was torn for a long time. At the time, I compared the bushings at 70K miles vs brand new by way of a prybar between the frame and LCA at the bushing. What I thought was excessive play/flex perfectly matched the brand new bushings, FWIW.

Interesting.
I guess we'll see.

I get my LCA bushings replaced on Thursday.
If they are able to remove your cam bolts without cutting them (I hope you ordered spares), make sure they sand the rust off and liberally coat them with antiseize, grease, or something. That bit of rust on mine you can see in the picture is from living in the desert most of its life and never seen road salt.

Should be alright this time. A few weeks back when I had my last alignment we had the bolts out and copper coated the shit out of em. They were seized up pretty good prior to that though. Thanks!

Well mine finally came in dealer forgot to call so they probably been there since last week which pisses me off somewhat. Mine will be getting put in monday! I hope it fixes it if not I'm gonna choke myself for the insane prices I paid lol.

Jeremy556 what website did you get that list of parts you posted earlier from ? I would like to know for future reference, instead of paying ridiculous dealer prices

Trdparts.com has all the diagrams and part numbers. I use that site anytime I need to replace something. It's a great site and easy to use, just for reference after you select your vehicle and what trim you have, you will see three small diagrams on the left hand side and underneath those, very smal,l is a link that says see all 82 diagrams. This helps to look through what you need visually and then just selecting the diagram you want.

Mine is from the service manual in PDF form (listed in the tacked topics threads), but any parts site will have the same info, and better prices. I usually use Olathe Toyota because they are a site sponsor and they are relatively close to me, so ground shipping doesn't take too long.

mine has the pop also, usually when I'm turning to back up into a spot, and when pulling into the driveway. Going to check the sway bar bushings first. Then try the dealer for the LCA bushings and see if they will cover it. We'll have to see if they are cool with my truck being lifted.

Just a note for anyone - like me - that though their LCA bushings might be the culprit behind these noises; check in to your CV's as well.
I'm certain the Clinking and clanking and popping I was hearing when cranking the wheel hard to pull in to a driveway or backing in to a parking spot, is the same as several in this thread have been hearing. While under the vehicle to replace the LCA bushings last week, my tech noticed that there was play in the CV axles(Reman Units, thought I'd try them out - results are about as I expected :( ).
Since they were under warrantee, I had them both replaced and the noises are 100% gone. I honestly should have clued in to this a lot sooner, since the noises only started a short time after I had my CV's replaced. And yeah, I'll be saving for some OEM units or look in to RCV options.
As for the LCA bushings, while we had them out, we noticed that there was some surface cracking and minimal play, but that they were far from "shot", so I chose to keep them in until I get the LCA's replaced.

while I have replaced numerous 5th gen LCA bushings, the amount of movement in a new bushing is similar to most vehicles Wasted bushings. they often seem worn out but that's just how they are, unless the control arm is shifting far enough to hit the frame pocket that it sits in, then its likely not your noise. Its a common misdiagnosis..

Great advise, going to check the sway bar bushings and the CV's on Thursday when I get a chance. Just find it hard to believe that at 17k miles and a couple off road trips (nothing hard-core) something has worn out. If so making a appointment after the expo for them to fix it.

My shop isn't that far away.....lol. take a picture of your LR upper arms for me, specifically the bushings.

Often a noise in the front, has a source in the back.

I've had a loose rear LCA bolt feel like it is in the front.

Another thing to check in the front is the inner and outer tie rods.

I know for a fact its not the LR UCA bushings. changed them out 3 weeks ago for the newest version, I Thought that was the popping noise I heard. NOPE! They are the newest with only the washer on the outside and the angled bushing.

I got mine back yesterday from the LCA bushing being replaced. So far no more noise I ain't hit any bumps really, but so far no popping. Shop charged $330 for the install.
