5Th Gen Locking gas cap update?

Anybody out there who uses a Stant 10504 locking cap had any issues now that you've had it on your vehicle for a while? Just purchased a '14 and want to check before I put it on.

Still, it has to be a huge problem. Not a week goes by that there isn't a new thread on here about someone getting their gas siphoned because of the lack of a locking cap or door. Or am I confusing that with threads about which size tires won't rub?
 
I've also purchased the 10504 and it seems to fit fine when I put it on. I won't be of much help to you though because I only use it when I'm parked in an area that I think I may need it. Most of the time my 2014 T4R is parked either at work in a secured lot or at home in my garage. The times where I'm parked for long periods of time in a shady area or when I'm fishing is when I'll be using it. I won't need drive with it on as I will just switch out the stant for the OEM one when I leave. Sounds like a PITA but works fine for me.

Getting your gas stolen is funny then....Who Knew??

A couple of updates from that gas cap thread of 2010. There were quite a few posts about a Toyota locking gas cap (Part No: C0170-00020) available in Canada only. However a Toyota dealer in Edmonton and one in Vancouver now report that part has been discontinued all across the country.

There was also a post about a NAPA locking cap (Part No: 703-1641) for the US. That part number was not recognizable for the local NAPA store. However it appears NAPA does sells a locking cap manufactured by Balkamp for $14.49, and their part number is 703-1720.

Lastly that thread listed two numbers for locking caps from Stant with the most often mentioned one being #10504, and also a #11504. I couldn't get any information on that second number. However part number 10504 is still good for Stant, and seems to be available from about $13.99 to $14.99 at a wide variety of places.

Here's a link for one that lists the corresponding vehicle / model for Stant part number 10504 updated to 2014 models:

No, it's funny because you could put on a locking gas cap, a locking fuel filler door, a Doberman in the back seat and park next to the police station and I could still have your gas in less than a minute.
 
you haven't heard stealing gas is so 3 years ago... now crooks are targeting Target, Norstroms and your health care:flipoff:

I have no special talent...I have a sharp punch and a gas pan. You have a plastic tank. Get the...point? Seriously though, several vehicles locally had that exact thing happen a few years ago. One lady was sitting in her vehicle while it happened. Proves locks are for piece of mind not protection.
I would rather pay $50 for a tank of gas instead of several hundred $$$ because I bought a locking gas cap.

Oh, there is no "rest of us" there is only you.

I call BS, there's no way to drain out 23 gallons of gas in less than one minute with just a tiny hole punched though the tank. Tsk tsk Gregory, you of all people, should've done the calculations...

I've read about those way back when I just picked up my 4runner...but I was never able to find many conclusive long term reviews on them? I did notice a couple of complaints about the locking style gas cap getting stuck and what not, and it kind of turned me off to the idea all together. Imagine how much of a pain it would be if you NEEDED to put gas in and the locking cap wouldn't come off? :ohwell:

The "rest of us" are the people who actually are looking for information about locking gas caps. The "only you" would be the single person who in two separate threads has loudly voiced disdain for the product, and mocked anyone who dared have the weakness to be interested in one.

So here's the obvious question. Since your uninterested in the subject matter and people are still sharing info on it despite your Lordship's customary know it all advice, why are you still here??

I'd like to see the fireball caused from the point of ignition between the gas and the brushes in that DC motor, haha! That hole saw would drain a tank pretty quickly though!
