5th Gen Trail Springs on 4th Gen Sport?

Had the 4Runner in the shop getting a rotate and balance the other day and decided to take a look at the shocks. Saw some leak spots on them and in the process of securing funds to replace. At this point I am going to go with a set of 5100s and a mild 2 inch lift. The question I have is as follows.

A buddy of mine is replacing the suspension on his 2014 Trail Premium with KDSS. He has offered me the springs off his all the way around. Can I swap out my springs with his springs? Is there any point to do this? Should I just stay with my factory ones? In the next 18 months I plan to swap OME all the way around just didnt know in the meantime if adding the newer ones from the '14 would be of any benefit.

I also apologize if this was covered somewhere I did search the page and google and couldnt find anything concrete.

I am wanting to do the same thing with my 2008 SR5. I have a set of coilovers and springs from a 2015 TE and I just picked up some Bilsteins. Hopefully I will have some free time next month to make this happen. I don't know what to expect from the ride, but I'm sure it will be ok.
This is my DD and it only goes off road to the beach.
