5th headlight bulb

hey guys im pretty noob when it comes to lighting, I know if I change the headlight bulb for HID I would have to tweak some stuff in the housing and run the wires... for now I was just looking for a straight easy quick fix to the ''not enough'' light coming out from the OEM halogen light...

So my question is will any type of brigther light bulb i.e. the Silverstar would just be a quick remove the oem and plug in the Silverstar or I have to do other things?

If you change the bulb for another halogen (ie. Silverstar), you wont have to do anything (modify/cut) else but change the bulb.

Even the HID Kit is all Plug & Play. So easy and bright that it’s definitely the first mod that you should do. Don’t change it to regular halogen light bulbs. It’s night and day difference. Buy quality HID KIT and Check this video out. =)

Both are PNP LEDs and require zero modification to the dust cap. Everything fits behind the dust cap. I would only recommend these two LEDs at the moment as they are running the lastest LED chips with enough lux to outperform halogens. Do not confuse lux with lumens.

Just get a $3.00 Edit: $7.00 H9 Halogen, trim one of the tabs and hello bright! I'm still not sold on LED lights for headlamps. They are bright, but the money just doesn't justify it for me when I can spend that on something more useful. Just adjust the headlight housing down about 4 turns to not completely blind everyone in your path. I even put them in my fogs. I drove home in a snowstorm with these for the first time last night, and they performed amazing. I have HID's in my 2016 Mustang GT, and a $900 LED kit in my Durango RT. These perform nearly as well as those.

I've tried the H9 mod and the Morimoto 2stroke 2.0 is brighter. Yes, there is a significant price difference but the bright white light output of LEDs makes the 4runner look so much more modern.

Any meaningful upgrade is going to require a bit of modification, but nothing too complicated or difficult.

Cheapest/easiest is going to be converting some H9 bulbs as outlined above, involves trimming a tab on each bulb so they fit in the socket, wiring plugs right in, takes about 5 min. total time. The Phillips made in Germany bulbs are best, Rock Auto sells Wagner (rebranded Phillips) for around $7 each.

Best option for light output is an HID conversion, lots of plug and play kits on the market these days that require drilling a hole in the dust cap and ziptieing the wiring harness to install, I've used the Xenon Depot kits on a couple of vehicles and have been very happy with them. 4300K puts out the most useable light, 5000K is a whiter light, 6000K is a bluer output.

LED falls in the middle, less expensive than HID, but great light output, just not quite on the same level as an HID conversion.

I just realized that the price of the H9 bulbs that I linked went up. I paid $2.89 per bulb just last Monday. Wow!
