I think white 4runners find ME haha. I looked for about two months before finding this one. My 2000 was white with leather just like this one.

Figured I would update this, forgot I even made a build thread on it.

So far (temporary) Daystar lift, 285/70/17 BFG mud terrain, spidertrax spacers, painted stock wheels gunmetal grey, thrush muffler, 30" led bar and painted a bunch of stuff black.

Very nice!

May have to copy the wheels. Mine are getting super pitted lately.

Don't remember the name, but just regular charcoal spray paint for rims you buy at your local parts store.

Got the tire carrier done, total cost for everything including bolts and paint, under $150. Took about a week total only getting a few hours a day after work to work on it.

nice!! i was think about a similar project but a swing out instead of a fold down. great job!

Did you have to do any major trimming to get the 285s to fit? Looks like you took the mud-flaps off, anything else?

Any details on the tire carrier parts and construction? OR links to others that you drew some design cues from? I know there was some other fold downs on here but I'm struggling to find them. I would like to make a fold down hitch mounted carrier as well, not wanting to go with a full rear bumper and also not wanting to spend $700 for the wilco hitch mounted swing out, with the ability to remove the whole thing if I don't want it for the day.

Thanks! I chose the fold down over the swing out for the simplicity of it. I am near Lake Jackson/Freeport area.

Thank you. I had to trim a small amount off the fenders, and I pushed the fender liner forward. I still rub slightly on bumps while turning. And I only trimmed the mud flaps, didn't remove.

I actually used a 2 piece stacked reciever hitch from Walmart and cut off the top receiver and used it for the mount by cutting away one face of the square tubing to make a "C" channel to hold the up right 2"x2" square tubing which is 3/16" thick. I then used 1"x1" square tubing and 1" flat bar, both 1/8" thick for the jerry can holders. The gussets are 1/4" thick and tire mount plate is 5/16" thick. All stick welded with 1/8" 6010 and 5/32" 7018 welding rods with a Hobart Stickmate AC/DC welding machine. All bolts and pin holes are 5/8".

I couldn't find a extended hitch receiver locally and didn't want to wait to order one, so I bought this from Walmart, which worked out even better because I used the top hitch for my fold down mount.

Felt that the jerry cans were to wobbly the way I had it designed, cut them back off, thinking of inside cab mount.

(Currently removed tire carrier)
