6112's in a 2006 V8

I decided to get a more off-road capable setup for my 4runner. I ordered the 6112, 5160 setup and SPC UCA's. I plan on using the OME 895E rear coils that I've had for a few years.

My question for someone is this. I'm looking to achieve around 2.25"-2.5" of lift with the 6112's on my V8. What clip setting should I use? The only info I have seen is for the V6.

Thanks!

It's little hard to exactly pin this down since Bilstein has changed the settings. I'm running the second from the bottom on my GX which gave about 1" over stock. Mind you, the GX is about 300-400 pounds heavier than the 4Runner. I would say 3rd from the bottom should get you where you want. Others will be more knowledgeable or maybe TotalAutomotiveLV ?

I just sent you a PM, I am interested to see where everyone is buying this setup and what they are paying?

I am ready to pull the trigger on either the 5100's with MOOG or FJ springs or step up to a setup like this.

Thanks,
Ben

I would go with a stiffer spring, 650lp would be good. You are going to have to use clip 6 to get the lift you want and that much pre-load is going to ride like crap as far as I can tell. I looked at the 6112's as well but I HATE having to pre-load and you cant get them with out springs, at least for now.

All I could find as well is for the V6, clip 6 and 4 for max lift. I would go 6 and 5 for the lean.

I'm probably not the right person to answer this because I have a V6... but ill throw it in anyways.

One down from the top put me in a really good place. I suspect it put me in that 2.25-2.5" lift area.

That said, paired with the taller 2895 it leveled out near perfect with a light load in the rear.

I think I am right there on the boarder of needing a UCA and being able to get away without one. Everything looks good and my caster is out at about 1.5 degrees.

Anything lower than the two highest perch settings, I wouldn't even bother with a UCA.

Thanks for the input. I also have a 1" top out spacer. I'm looking for 3-3.5" total. I agree with the preloading. I currently have the fj setup with toytec 2.5" spacer and want to go away from that.

3-3.5" is a lot dude...

Once you get into the 3"+ range the lifts are not really as straight forward anymore as you have other considerations now.

CV angles are going to be in for a world of hurt and ur not going to have jack for droop. Ur going to be giving up a lot of downward travel, taking away from effective suspension travel.

Droops is pretty important for performance as well, jacking it up to the sky means ur almost at full droop sitting there doing nothing.

Think of it this way... without droop, the whole car falls into the pothole vs just a tire.

If you want that aggressive of a lift and want a do it right, just go with a basic long travel setup and don't look back.

Maybe i'm wrong, but I don't consider adjusting the spring perches the same as pre-loading the spring.

You are not really compressing the spring, you are just raising it on the body of the shock, which is in turn raising the vehicle because you basically created a longer shock.

At least that's how the geometry works out in my head.

+1 on not being able to get them without springs. They really need to add a sku for the 650 and 700lb springs.

Thanks for the input Bumbo. Think I will just go with the 2nd and 4th clip setting which is probably around 1.75ish plus the top out 1". I am adding the diff drop to help the cv angles. My end goal is for a better ride and more articulation. I'm still waiting on a few parts to come and will start the install next week. Rock sliders are not to far down the line.

I agree, I would have went with the 6112 with a King 650lb spring but didn't want to fork an extra 200.00 bucks. If I was going to spend that kind of money it would be an Icon, Fox or similar.

Just installed the 6112's on my rig with JBA UCA's. I set it up at clips #2 & #4 per the instructions that came with it (I'm also a V6). I also added a Toytec 1/2" spacer to gain the lift I wanted without having to preload the springs much. Truck runs smooth as butter and I have no issues with the drivetrain with this combination.

Thanks.
Anyone have any tricks in putting the 6112's together. Shock diameter is making it tough with the spring compressors I've rented.

This is a great build, but be aware and mindful that the OME 2895E may actually be a little too tall for the Bilstein 5160's.

If you are carrying aftermarket weight on the 4Runner to bring those light load coils to within 0-2", you will be good to go.

For the Front 6112's, if you have no lean, top setting will get you 2.25-2.50"

If you have a lean, you can second to top on passenger side for same possible outcome.

Can't wait for more pics!

I have the OME 895E, 1.5" lift. Thinking going with the 2" icon or toytec superflex. Thanks for the info I'll post photos once I complete the install.

Ended up using the 3rd and 5th perch. In this photo I'm sitting 1.5" taller than my fj setup but an hour later it started to settle almost an inch. I will put up the measurements after I get my alignment done.

Stoked on the setup so far. The ride is solid.

Letting it settle another day before alignment. Will take final measurements then.

mmmm.. new shiny parts.

Wait more than a day, mine took a couple days to really settle

Height looks good, leveling looks good.

I see ur ditching the sway bar? Or is that going back on?

Now you can finally flip the tires and turn the BFG white lettering to the outside... you deserve it.

Sway bar is back on. Going to get alignment Wednesday. The front settled almost 1". The tire shop didn't ask and I forgot to say how I wanted the tires.

Ok final measurement are 37.75 front and 38.75" rear. That's ground to fender. Before I was 37" front and 38.75 rear. I measured from the center hub to fender after the install 23" front and 23.5 rear.

I ended up putting the perch at 6 driver and 4 passenger. I also installed 1" lift top spacers. I have some heavy weld on sliders coming soon.

Took her to see how the new setup performed yesterday and am very happy. I do need to take out my rear sway bar again and install a rear locker.

hey there, did you ever get your 6112s installed? i have a V8 too and plan to install this saturday. haven't found anything solid on a V8 install. the instructions say to match the clip settings vs doing on a v6. curious to see what you did on your V8. thx in advance..
