Yes, this was my concern too. Is the diode also acting similar to a fusible link?

I had that revelation myself and then did some searching. To this date, I have still not been able to find a single instance in which this has caused any problems.

I've personally been problem free for several years already.

The diode in the GM is only 1amp capable before it fails, while the fuse handles up to 7.5a.

You'll be fine.

I had to trim the diode to fit but it's in there and I'm getting 15.69-15.89v at idle off the stock factory alternator.

I ended up removing the diode ansrer taking some readings at cold start, driving and idling after warmed up
