700 miles this next weekend?

I really never had a high mileage vehicle before, so with my t4r 1998 250k and I have no history on the truck (I've only had it for about a month) should I trust it to make it from South Houston to Fort Worth area and back? I pulled back on my timing belt cover, it's been changed before, but when is the dang question. It has a new alternator, battery, fuel pump and tires.
It runs great in town but I haven't been in the freeway with it yet.

There is no guarantee that any vehicle will make it the next mile down the road.

I would take whichever vehicle you want to. But have a plan if things go poorly.

if the timing belt breaks your engine will not be damaged as it is a non interference design. Just go ahead and drive it. You'll learn a bunch about the condition of your truck during this trip.

I did 700 miles as the first road trip for my 245k mile 4runner. Granted I had put 3,000 miles on it prior to driving to work and some interstate trips amounting to around 50 miles.

Got us there, did some wheeling in the middle of no where in summer heat (in Moab summer heat rather) and everything was a-okay.

I'd definitely try to do some interstate driving even if you don't have a reason to. Would rather learn that the wheels are out of balance and it rides like crap or something else ride related before sitting in it for that many hours at high speeds.

If you've been driving it for a month, you already know most of everything it's going to tell you. There's no guarantee that something new won't pop up, but you don't have that guarantee with any vehicle, old or new. If it's not making any funny noises, check your fluids and drive it wherever you want.

Ok today I look a ride on I45 In Houston, I got up to 75mph let go of the wheel and is was strait as an arrow and drove great. I got home and changed my rear end oil, thank God I did it was a qt. low. I have faith I bought it bearly running, now it runs almost new, not bad for a $500 investment.

I bought my 3rd gen on a sunday next day I did a 400 mile road trip lol.It did great no problems I think your fine.

Like others said, I wouldn't worry too much. I bought my 06' with 123k miles on it. Had my mechanic check it out to make sure everything looked good to go and then spent the last month driving over 7,500 miles all over the country. This includes some offroading in Texas, Arizona, and Moab, Utah. It exceeded my expectations.

Well I did the trip this weekend, and she made it. only sprung a little rear diff. leak, which I patched with silicone just to get me home.
