Thai is just giving people a heads up for those considering a possible jump to a heavily modded truck since $2k difference in gas cost adds up and could be used better elsewhere for those not fortunate enough to be able throw an extra couple grand around. I could see if this was a weekend warrior but I see alot of people buy these vehciles as their daily drivers and IMO that is kinda dumb which not just includes extra fuel cost but also the extra wear and tear you put on the truck which can be amplified with certain mods.

Well put, RonM. In addition, remember, inflation & taxes explain part of the rise in price for Land Cruiser (and everything else, esp. imports). My G500 cost $78 MSRP in 2004...now, it is over $100k.

Not in the near future. The way the economy (and gas prices) is heading and the fact that my kids are still very young make it hard for me to justify owning a 4x4 truck (with low-range). The most capable that i will get is the 4wd wagons out there, like the Subarus etc....more for all-weather travels than all-terrain.

It took me a year to find my own Landcruiser. At first I thought the same thing as far as prices go but i'm tellin ya, once you ride in one it's game over. They are really a great ride. I paid 26K for my 05 LX470 with 72K miles. They are pricey I'll admit but awesome trucks. Oh and I will say you hear all kinds of ppl dogging the 100s and mentioning how much better the 80s are but I just don't think thats entirely true. Kind of like how most folks agree on the mid 80s 4runners being probably the best year models but that doesn't mean the newer models are uncapable.. The 100s are very capable trucks and deserve respect in their own right. I've yet to see an 80 go where a 100 couldn't follow. That doesn't mean it hasn't happened but I just haven't seen it..
Here's a good read on this.. Not fact just opinion like everyone else, but still ppl with experience are usually the wisest so take it for what it is.. And for the record I trail my 4Runner and am still very much in love with it even though I do have a Hundy. I think it's just a matter of what YOU'RE comfortable in that matters. My wife does prefer the Hundy though..

I'm just curious since I really have no intel on the matter, but do they even go for a premium?
He told me he turned down $60k I guess it's a fairly rare version. IDK seems like he might be smoking something.

Hopefully the potential new owner doesn't take it off-road either. Would be a shame to get it dirty.
