'85 4runner high idle problem

I just bought a 1985 4runner (manuel) and it has a very high idle, can someone please tell me how to lower the idle.

what engine do you have? 4 or 6 cyl,carb or fuel injected?

at what RPM does it idle at/cold/warm

Thanks for replying Mike, my 4runner is 1985 with a 1986 engine in it. It is 4 cylinda with fuel injection, 5 speed. It idles high all the time when I am not moving (in neutral that is) whether the truick is warm or cold

There should be a rubber plug on your throttle body that you remove to expose the screw to change the idle.

If you are unsure take it to the dealer they will show you where it is located.

Used to have this problem on occassion with my 87 4R. Discovered that it only happened when I ran Premium fuel through its veins.
