85 4runner noise in steering column

Just picked up an 85 4runner and noticed there's a spring tension sound if I move the steering wheel even the slightest bit in any way. It's coming from the wheel or column inside the cab and was just wondering what it could be. Thanks for any input

Maybe contacts on the horn. Pull the steering wheel cover off.
I believe the is also a ujoint on the steering shaft just behind the steering wheel.

No, it's nothing like that. Sounds like when you sit on an older couch or mattress and the springs make noise, just not as heavy or loud

does it have a body lift? your steering column may rub your inner fender just under the power steering reservoir.
i just fixed mine.

Strange. Well please be sure to share with us what the issue is once you figure it out! We all learn collectively here!
Good luck

Didn't have time to look into it this weekend, was busy replacing the original 1985 tie rod end that we ended up having to torch out, but after that, a rotate, and adjusting the rear brakes she's driving like a champ
