No not welded. I think he was able to flip one part around and did a female-to-male type deal. Not 100% but he seemed to have minimal difficulty making 2 kits into one rack. Everything is screwed together as it normally would be

Thank you sir. I know 2nd's get the step-child rating but I'm an underdog fan. The rack just happened to be exact length and width. Couldn't have built it more perfect on purpose, much less by chance. And it was free from a local 4Runner dude I became friends with from the forum. Couldn't pass it up

I'm using a longer tarp now, so I can wrap it around and even make a sidewall. More shade.

Here's my non arb awning setup. I used a cheap backpacking tarp and tarp poles from amazon. On the car side I bungee my trekking poles to our rack to extend out front and rear. It takes a minute or ten to set up but once its all staked out it holds up to wind and rain pretty well.

I've never considered a roof rack before, and actually thought they were just another expensive accessory for people to waste money on,...

I use mine every time I camp, and usually when I go shooting or fishing. Very handy.

Walmart also has a set of Yakima-like round crossbars by Reese that are in the $75 range. Anybody have experience with these?

Hahaha I don't off road at all. My uncle gives me sh!t for it being a museum piece but I just have a weird high school-like crush on it. F*ckin OCD. Makes my brain wired weird.

The fun for me is the process of making it look pretty and cool and READY for action, without actually ever seeing any. A cardinal sin for a lot of folks here...

But I get cool looks in the grocery store parking lot on weekends. ...[sigh]
