i just pick up another 4runner 86 it starts and idles fine cold or warm when you rev it up it spits and sputters. ican get the rpms up around 3000 if i barely press onthe gas mabye 1/8 throttle any suggestions

First thing first... What engine, carb or fuel injection, etc. .... Need more info.
Next.... If fuel injection.... verify that the MAS (Mass Airflow Sensor) is connected it sounds just like what I was experiencing when I forgot to reconnect my MAS after replacing head gaskets on a 3.0l v6.
Have you checked the ignition timing? Also Sounds like the timing may be off - probably too far advanced.
From there I would check Camshaft timing, Ignition Module, Fuel Delivery,

thanks for info it was the ecu woo hoo i now have two
