I started out with a completely stock 87 sr5 4runner. The clear coat ia pealing off so a new paint job is coming this winter. The motor has been completely rebuilt by th previous owner. My plans are to run 63" chevys and bj spacers with 33's.

The first thing on the list was to stop the tailgate supports from beating around and making noise while driving. So some simple bike tire tube's fixed that problem. Then I upgraded the interior and door lights to leds from superbrightleds.com

Bj spacers added with 6" trail gear shackles in the rear until I get the 63"s done.

Well over the weekend I tore into the rear spring swap.

I wanted the shocks as straight up and down as possible to help with body roll.

I used a 6" shackle for the rear, which gave me a little more height than I wanted.

I have the torsion bars relaxed quite a bit. So when I asjust them some I am sure it will help some. I dont want to twist them to much and sacrafice ths ride quality.

torsion bar bolts as they sit now. I am thinking of going to a 5" shackel to help get it level. Any thoughts on shortening the shackels?

Another thought to lower the rear end is to remove the over load spring and leave the 6" shackles in place. Any thoughts?

That's a really good shackle angle. Unless you plan on hauling heavy loads frequently, I'd definitely look into yanking the overload leaf before you mess with the shackle.

I like where this build is going, keep it up!

I think I have decided to remove the over load spring. That should lower it 3/4-1" and with a slight tbar adjustment set me level. I will still have 3 leafs left and with bump stops hopefully have no issue's. I will post pics of the results

Looking great! Keep it up.

PS. Toyota Part# 65778-89104 will take care of the noises from the tailgate limiters. You'll need 4 and they MSRP at $2.82/each

I have been extremely busy at work and had no time at all to get anything done. I did receive the ome n98 shocks for the front. I picked them up at east coast gear supply in raleigh. I am hoping I will have a chance next week to get them installed.

I just noticed youre in High Point. I live in Winston, and work in Asheboro. Let me know if you ever need a hand, I drive the 311 cut through everyday.

You're going to like those.

A couple of flex shots with the 63's installed. I will need to fab up some bump stops for the rear. The front still has the short factory shocks and tbars are relaxed almost all the way with bj spacers in the pics.

Well I havent had much time to work on the 4runner but I have managed to get a little done. I decided to lower the rear end by installing some 5" shackles from ruff stuff. They are 1/8" off set.

I also had east coast gear supply set me up some 4.88s for the rear. I will be running a locker in the front and open in the rear for now. I will eventually be running an elocker in the rear.
