'87 tranny leaking into transfer case

I've searched but found nothing on point so here it goes. I have a major leak of transmission fluid coming from the transfer case a/b the size of a saucer every time its parked for the night. After about 10 minutes of driving my AT TEMP light comes on. The AT dipstick is always showing full, despite who knows how much fluid has been put on the ground. When I checked out the transfer case level, it poured out a substantial amount. It seems that when the AT fluid heats up and thins out, it starts to seep into the transfer case until the case is so full it spits out the top and out the back. I thought I could change a seal between the transfer case and the transmission, but after unbolting what was needed, I was unable to separate the cases. I'm afraid that with an AT the transfer case is part of the AT assembly. So does this mean in order for me to change a seal, the trans has to be removed and rebuilt?

BTW, just had a new Jasper 22re installed.

On a 22re with an auto transmission your transfer case uses ATF separate from your transmission. You check the fluid in the transfer case by removing the level plug in the rear of the assembly You fill it in the same hole until it starts to run out the hole, then its full!

There is a seal between the two, but unfortunately there are two mating bolts concealed in side the transfer case... That transfer case is a bear to take apart, it has clutches and chains, and a valve body just like a transmission.

You have lots of places for leaks:
it has a pan like a transmission
a drain plug on the pan
cooling lines
and a cooling radiator

I probably told you a bucha stuff you already know but I hope this helps.
