'87 Wobbles/Shakes with the Top Off

So last week it was warm and sunny out so I took the top off. To my displeasure around 50-60 mph I get this light to moderate wobble/shake. I took a look around and found that I lost a wheel weight on the front left wheel from a large pot hole I hit the other day, so had it re-balanced, but it didnt fix the problem. Well the forcast called for a couple days of rain so the top went back on and now the wobble/shake is gone....

Any thoughts? Rear tires out of balance, but with the extra weight of the top on it's not noticable? Or bent steel wheel? Or could it still be something up front? I just replaced the rear springs, bushings, and shocks all the way around not more than two months ago with Alcan/Bilstiens so it's got to be in the wheels and/or tires right?

could be a slightly bent axle. I bent one of mine and it did the same thing. pay close attention to how it feels with the top on and you might feel it a little bit.

Man, I hope it's not a bent axle... a bent wheel would be a cheaper senario...

It only cost me $150 to replace mine. that's with a new bearing and seals. I had a press handy at the time tho. Don't know what a shop charges to press the bearing on. its really not bad if your looking at replacing some aftermarket wheels

thats weird considering the top doesnt even weigh that much...

I wonder if it's a wind/draft issue? I might pull the top off and put about 200# of weight in the back and see if it still does it....

just put a kid or a friend in the back... be about equal the weight of the top, if that top weighs 80# id be surprised
