88 4 Runner Blowing Computers

Ive been having major issues with my 4 runner. Been trying to get it on the road. But it has blown 2 computers so far. And the mechanics cant figure out why. Ive spent 700$ on 2 and dont want to keep waiste my money. I am no truck mechanic. Im a small engine guy.

$700 for two computers?! That is way too much. You shouldn't spend more than $100 each.

Get a multi meter check your tps your maf sensor if they short out they can blow computers or make it appear blown

You really need to supply a lot more info before anyone could give you a useful response.
How much you've spent on replacements and whether or not it was too much is irrelevant.

Like what engine? what trans?
and more important, what is actually happening when this problem occurs?
what are the symptoms? what leads up to this failure?
Have you checked to see if any CEL codes have been generated?

What part of the ECM is 'blown' ?

Sorry about not posting engine. v6 3vz engine. My truck is an hour away and not having trasportation it gets costly. Again Im not there to see what happends.

If it's blowing computers there's a short somewhere. All the sensors need to be checked and all the grounds and powers. Wiring is the hardest thing to diagnose in person and expedially on a forum like this

Ive read somewhere that water can mess them up. Are they know for blowing? It did fire right up when they instaled the first one. I bought it non running. Should have bought a chevy. lol

Well no your really not going to get a good response. But your right, you should have bought a Chevy,because a 4runner is way to cool for you anyway...or buy one that is running with no issues if your not able to do the work yourself.
