Hiyo, first post, first time really reading a wrench turner's forum so please bear with me.
A good friend of mine had to part ways with his 88 4Runner and after some hemming and hawing I decided to take the leap. This was based on having been around the machine for a while and knowing how anal he is about the work he does, has done, parts sourced, etc. To say the least, the thing is mint - for Eastern Canada. 330,000 km on the body and 150,000 on a replacement 22RE that the second owner put into it. Mostly Ontario driven (no salt air), religiously undercoated. Interior shows its age but that doesn't concern me in the slightest.
I drive the thing two weeks at a time and I am offshore the other half of a month so it sees a lot of sitting and low mileage which is perfect for me. I also have a pretty dedicated mechanic who gave her a clean bill of health before I pulled the trigger on it, and I can do some light tinkering. All in all it has been trouble free for me for over a year now and I grow happier with it as time goes by.

I am in the process of acquiring a new end gate complete for it as mine is getting quite soft along the sill.
The rear window frames are going the same way and while I do have a line on some that I am going to see next week, I would be interested in anyone who has insight on this?
The cap is faded on the edges (red in colour) and just wondering the collective experience with either: armour coating the thing, or straight paint (?) or if such an item can be easily found.
Is there anything major that I should keep my eye on? I will be having the body and paint re-done probably next year as it is still in good shape (minor measles spots) and I want to get the end gate sorted first.
