I had a bad battery & voltage regulator (but it charged, all the time)so, bought a new battery & regulator.........

Now it its not charging 90+ % of the time. Every once & a while it will charge.
I had the alternator tested in & out of the rig..... Its not charging 90+ % of the time. Every once & a while it will charge. In , they couldn't get it to put out any power. Though I've been able to get it to do so twice. Out it tests good every time. ( they ran it 4 separate times)

I have power to all 3 wires on the plug & power @ the post. So I am totally lost to what the problem could be.

Any help would be appreciated!

just started the truck again and it was charging fine drove it less than half a mile and it quit charging. pulled it out had it tested while sitting in the alternator rebuild shops driveway and it tested 100% fine. put it back in and it will not charge. again all three wires have power one reads at just over 12 volts, second about 11.5 volts and the third is at 11.9 volts. but when I test the stud, there is no power coming out of the unit. I even put an extra ground directly to the alternator from the battery terminal and that made no difference.

I have no idea what the problem is or what to try next, but it's starting to piss me off to the point where I'm ready to haul it to the scrapper and be out the five thousand plus dollars that I'm into it!

Since it works out of the truck but not in it, maybe there is a problem in the truck that is creating more load than if can handle, so the voltage is low, which would cause the battery not to charge.

It seems to be an intermittent issue. I drive it back over to them and had them tested and it was not charging then shut it off and turned it back on and it was not charging. so I loosened the bolts to get ready to test it one last time before pulling it out I'm taking it inside and it started charging again well testing and shocked me with repeated pulses of AC power. During testing they they saw that it is putting out intermittent AC power. So they think that it has bad diodes in it?

So it looks like I'm going to have to buy a new alternator or convert to a Chevy 1 wire type of setup. If anyone has info on converting to the Chevy alternator on a V6 3.O please give me a link or the info. All I can find is for the four cylinder and I'm not sure if the wiring is the same.
