89 V6 Gas - Fuel leak ? and new to board

Hello to all. I am new to this board, although I have been a constant user at z31.com for the past 4 years.
I Goggled the web and searched this site for "fuel - gas - leak - smell"
and found nothing but the 03 recall info.
My wife's 1989 SR5 V6 (near show room cond) has a noticeable
gas smell coming form the top right rear of the engine block.
She took it in to the local Toyota Dealer (Hayward, CA). They
performed a pressure check and a visual check for $140.00 and
found nothing. However, the smell is still there. I did a visual
and found no obvious fluid in the engine compartment and nothing on the ground. I suspect it might be an injector seal
that is the problem.

Anyone on this board have this problem or can identify the location of the leak?

BVSV valve, or fuel dampner

I had a problem on my 88 V6 last summer that sounds similar. It ended up being two things actually. One, is a tiny plastic valve that sits at the back of the engine (closest to the cab). It is a BVSV or BVS valve that has something to do with emissions. Just follow the fuel lines to the back of the engine and see if you can do the contortionst move that it takes to get the thing out. The other thing was a blown fuel dampner. If you've got a repair manuel it should give you everything you need. Those are the things I'd check first anyway. Hope that helps, good luck.
