90 4runner stereo code

my fiancee bought a used 90 4runner,after having an engine put in,the stereo doesnt work,yhe previos owner didnt give us his code. is there a way to bypass or change the code to get the radio operating again?:awais:

Does it say "SEC" or"ERR" if so this is what you need to do

1 radio off ignition turned to ACC
2 hold 1 and 6 buttons in push hold PWR.VOL knob in untill SEC appears on display
3 press 1 while holding the right side of TUNE SEEK button in --- and the tape operation indicator will appear on the display
4 a number should appear on display hold SCAN untill---- appears on display then ---- will go off to indicate the system has been cancelled if at any time you get a ERR the SEC you did something wrong and try all over again.

Let me know if this works got it out of my manual.
